When God Ran

Here's a song performed by three 'old' men, pastors actually, Phillips, Craig and Dean. They have superb vocals and blend well with each other. More importantly is the song they sang and the lyrics (below). God reaches to us, its whether we choose to accept Him or not. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

Almighty God, the great I am
Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord
Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings
Mighty conqueror, and the only time
the only time I ever saw Him run

Was when He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left home I knew I’d broken His heart
And I wondered then if things could ever be the same
Then one night I remembered His love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see
It was the only time – it was the only time I ever saw Him run

And then He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
“Son do you know I still love you?”
He caught me by surprise as He brought me to my knees
When God ran – I saw Him run to me

BRIDGE:
I was so ashamed, all alone and so far away
But now I know He’s been waiting for this day

I saw Him run to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice I felt His love for me again

He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said “My son’s come home again”
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said, “Son”, He called me Son
He said, “Son do you know I still love you?”
He ran to me and then I ran to Him
When God ran

He Still Moves Stones

So this is my first post and hopefully not the last. I'd like to introduce a book which I recently read. Its called "He Still Moves Stones" by Max Lucado, one of my favorite authors. As usual, once again the author writes a superb and inspiring book that deals with people in the pits of life, when life knocks us down and we find it difficult to get back up. The chapters and message is short, simple and easily understood with plenty of descriptions of scenes, places and events of the past and present.

The book starts of with the author going to an art gallery entitled "Bruised Reeds and Smoldering Wicks". The gallery has paintings in pairs, each pair depicting a state of lowliness, sickness, despair or hurting and the other of the pair; joy, healing, restoration and forgiveness. We then see that the gallery is actually pictures of people before and after meeting Jesus Christ. Little faith that moved Him to do wonders, healing both the physical and the soul.

20A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he leads justice to victory.
-Matthew 12:20-

Each chapter shows in detail the grace of Christ and His love for people, especially the hurting and discouraged. Many things are revealed which people often read over and over (and over) again oblivious to it. Small acts and truths of Christ that tells us plenty about our loving Saviour.

Max makes it clear that these stories in the Bible are not stories of what Jesus Christ did in the past, but what He does, even now. The compassion He had for the blind, the forgiveness He proclaimed on the paralyzed man lowered from the roof, the grace He had for the criminal on the cross, He is still the same.

The book ends the way it started, in the gallery but with a pair of empty paintings with our names on it. Its our turn to paint the story of our times of trial and encounter with the Lord.

This book is so full of truths that i had to put it down after reading each chapter to recall and absorb it. Definitely recommended reading. :]
